Where is my brick located?

You can use our brick locator map to find your brick on Legacy Way. If you are planning a visit to campus, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance so we can assist you in locating your brick.

When will my brick be installed?

There are currently two Legacy Way brick installations each year: the spring installation takes place before commencement, and the summer installation occurs before the start of the academic year. The deadline for brick purchases for the summer installation is June 27. If you miss this deadline, your brick will be installed in the spring. The waiting period allows us to complete the necessary steps in ordering, preparing, shipping, inspecting and installing the bricks. We will notify you once your brick is installed.

Who can purchase a brick?

Current students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends of Stony Brook University are all eligible to purchase a brick.

What is the size and price of a paver and replica brick?

Pavers measure 8x8 inches and are priced at $250, while replica bricks measure 3x3 inches and cost $65.

Is my brick purchase tax deductible?

Yes, the donation amount is fully tax-deductible, and you will receive a gift receipt acknowledging your donation.

Will the inscription be included in the confirmation email for my order?

Yes, your personalized inscription will be included in the confirmation email you receive after purchasing your brick. This confirmation will be sent to the email address you provide on the order form.

What can be inscribed on the bricks?

Legacy Way serves as a way to commemorate your experience and association with Stony Brook University. Each brick can have a maximum of 20 characters per line, with up to 3 lines total. Any character on a standard keyboard is permissible, and spaces count as characters. Inscriptions will not be allowed to contain commercial messages, company names, or discriminatory or inappropriate messages regarding an individual’s or group’s sex, race, color, religious creed, national origin, age or physical disability. All inscriptions are subject to University approval.

Can I just buy a replica brick?

Unfortunately, due to vendor limitations, we can only provide replica bricks as part of a paver purchase. If you choose to combine your order, we will ensure that your replica undergoes a thorough inspection before shipping. We will also provide you with tracking details. The replica will be sent via standard mail for your convenience.

I want to buy multiple bricks. Do I have to submit an online order form for each brick on your website?

Yes, each order form is designed to ensure the accuracy of each brick's inscription, so you can only order one paver at a time. You will need to submit a new order for each paver you wish to buy.
