Fires are more prevalent in the winter so it is important to take fire safety precautions.  This workshop will cover the following topics:  maintenance of home heating equipment e.g. (kerosene or portable electric heaters, wood burning stoves, fireplaces), use and placement of extension cords, candles and holiday decorations.  Having a fire escape plan that includes a clear path to exit your home is a lifesaver.

SPEAKER:  Scott A. Gershowitz, Fire Marshal, Environmental Health & Safety.  Scott holds an AAS in Fire Science from Suffolk Community College and is a Volunteer Firefighter for the past 20 years.  He is a NYS Code Enforcement Official and a NYS Advanced Hazardous Materials Technician.  http://www.stonybrook.edu/ehs/fire/
