Medical Alumni Notes Dario Gonzalez 11/20/2014
I am presently in Liberia, West Africa. I have spent time working in the Bong Ebola Treatment Unity (ETU) taking care of Ebola patients. I have spent multiple hours in the "Hot Zone" with Ebola positive patients, in full PPE (Tyvec suits, rubber boots, triple gloves, goggles, and double mask). This was the same unit that was recently presented on 60 Minutes. I've spent training time in Monrovia with the Department of Defense (DoD), doing on site training (prior to Bong) and scenario patient care in full PPE. I'm moving to a place called Bucanan where I am setting up an ETU and will be the Medical Director until my return to the states. I have time in the Ebola Hot Zone caring for children and adults, including family groups. I am part of the contingency of AmeriCares physicians as part of the US NGO response.
